Moline Police investigating fatal stabbing

UPDATE: Moline Police have released more details about the fatal stabbing the occurred Tuesday night.

Around 10:45 p.m., Moline Police responded to an unknown problem in the 400 block of 17th Avenue.

Officers found a suspect, Xavier Camper, 20, of Moline, covered in blood near 5th Street and 17th Avenue.

The investigation lead police to a home in the 400 block of 17th Avenue where they found the victim, Kerry A. Dyer, 53. Police tried to help Dyer but he was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple stab wounds as determined by an autopsy conducted on Wednesday.

Camper was charged with first degree murder and is currently being held in the Rock Island County Jail on a bond $1,000,000.

The Moline Police Department was assisted by the Illinois State Police, the Rock Island County Coroner’s Office, the Rock Island County States Attorney’s Office and the Moline Fire Department.

EARLIER UPDATE: The Moline Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on Tuesday around 10:45 p.m.

The victim has been identified as Kerry A. Dyer, 53, of Moline. An autopsy performed by Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson determined Dyer died of “multiple traumatic stab wounds.”

Moline Police have a man in custody in relation to the stabbing but have not released his identity.
